Some expats say,Carnegies in Taipei used to be a great place for drinking and dining with the most beautiful atmosphere,when it was,in good old days. But 10 years later,it become too popular for tourists while services are average,and its definitely poorer management than it was once. Especially when a glass of free drink is provides at Ladies night on every Wednesday that means you will find Barbie's looking hookers meet lonely business travelers.
But it can be still fun for early evening appetizer or watching football game on the big screen. Every time I come back to Taiwan, I'm impressed with the level of services that even the street food vendors provide.
Needless to say that any known place in town would have more than acceptable service staff. Carnegies was recommended by my expat friends and those who travel to Taiwan for business often as a good hangout for a late evening drink or Sunday brunch.
I took their advice and brought my wife and daughter with me several weeks ago. It was a few days after we left sunny socal, and we were craving a relaxed U. The food was subpar at best. My over easy eggs were served mistakenly as scrambled eggs. My wife's poached eggs looked and tasted as if they were taken out of the microwave. Asked multiple times for refills to our iced tea and iced coffee, and they never came.
