This has to be one of the best kept secrets in antibes, I went there on a Sunday nit for the 3 course set menu, however, when you include all the special little plates of food from the chef it turns out to a 7 course, so not only is the food sooooo amazing it is terrific value All I can say is that if you want sex on a plate go try for yourself, it's well worth the trip and the money Only down size is the sommelier is unfriendly and not plesent to deal with Having eaten here a year and half ago I took my family here and encountered the complete opposite of my experience then.
The staff, as reviewers pointed out, are nearly all ill trained and don't even smile. The whole experience was very unpleasant indeed. The main point for us was the very large pretentious TV screen in front of our table, in which you can watch the Kitchen staff working, which is very distracting when you are trying to speak with fellow diners.
This needs removing! We watched one chef without a hat blow his nose, wipe it on his apron, then pick his nose and finally scratch his head. In fact we saw very few kitchen staff wearing any hats or hair covered at all. If this what we are expected to watch then we would rather not see it thanks. There was no apology at all from any staff and the TV was switched off. So the food was fine, but extremely,extemely expensive for what you get, but the main problem for us was the service and lack of hygiene.
I shall not be returning here. I was quite pleased with the Figuier. The ambiance is lovely as the hotel has a small outdoor courtyard featuring Service was outstanding. We ordered their classic seafood cannolini starter, followed by lamb. Both were excellent. There was a lot of fanfare around the lamb which is cooked in a packet and presented that way.
Its texture was sublime. The wine list was good and fairly priced. All in all I felt that it lived up to its single Michelin star. Solid one-star quality. Foie gras was superb. Fish a bit too well done. Desert variations of lemon was extremely sweet. I liked it though. Nice patio. If you come by car: they offer valet parking. I have visited this restaurant twice for dinner in the last seven days. The second time to check my recollection of how good it was.
